David Leiva was born in Almería but grew up in Barcelona which is where he currently resides. With ten years began his musical career studying music theory and classical guitar at the Conservatory of Granollers with teachers Josep Henriquez and Jose Manuel Marin.
He is graduated in musical pedagogy, Classical Guitar and Flamenco Guitar. At eighteen Guitarra Flamenca career starts at the Liceu Conservatory with Manuel Granados, which ended the eight-year career with the final rating of Outstanding. He received refresher classes Flamenco Guitar teacher Manolo Sanlucar, Gerardo Núñez, Rafael Riqueni and Juan Manuel Cañizares. A few years later Licensed in Music Education and Classical Guitar by Superior Liceu Conservatory with teachers Sergi Vicente and Guillem Pérez-Quer. During this time he studied refinement of the great masters Leo Brouwer, Eduardo Baranzano, David Russell and Pepe Romero.
David Leiva currently teaches flamenco guitar in the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona and is the founder and director of "Institut Barcelona Flamenco".
As a concert soloist he has performed at various theaters, festivals and venues of great international importance. He has received offers to act in Japan, China, Russia, USA and Dubai. His experience as a guitarist accompanying led him to accompany great figures of singing and dancing as Merche Esmeralda, Chano Lobato, Nano de Jerez, Juan Pinilla, Pirate Jerez, Mauricio Cesteros, among others.
He has made Master Classes for conservatories and universities in different parts of Spain, Europe and America, making headlines in radio, print and television.
He collaborates with specialized flamenco magazines making different items on the flamenco guitar and flamenco.
In 2012 released his first album "Source Victoria" a disc which has received very good reviews by flamenco experts.
With Flamencolive company David has released its own brand of strings, "Leiva Strings", and Juan Montes guitars, "Montes - Leiva".
Currently as the author has 60 publications (books and DVDs) and some great success in the flamenco education. It was the first author who has made a musical method on the Cante Flamenco dancing and entitled "Flamenco Method cante and dance accompaniment, Book + CD" and "Treaty of accompaniment al cante, Book + DVD" these collections are considered one of the best methods of flamenco. This success is not the only one who has obtained as an author, the books "Camarón guitar tab" and "Enrique Morente guitar tab" are the first books of these two great singers. Since January 2014 is the official transcriber of the genius of Paco de Lucia. At the end of 2014 was released the first book of the "Anthology of fañsetas of Paco de Lucía" official collection of 24 books divided between styles and periods. David has continued with the official books of the great master Paco de Lucía also bringing to the expected late 2014 book "Sirocco".
