David Leiva

David Leiva is a composer, guitarist and musicologist, holding a bachelor’s/master’s degree in music pedagogy, classical guitar and flamenco guitar from the Conservatori del Liceu. In addition, he has a master’s degree in musical research from UNIR and is currently in the doctoral process at the UCM, developing a doctoral thesis focused on the music of Paco de Lucía from an (ethno) musicological perspective.

Leiva holds the position of director at the Institut Flamenco of Barcelona, is a professor at the Taller de Músics and at the Master in Flamenco at the UCM, in addition to serving as artistic director of the Ciutat Flamenco festival.

David is a reference in Flamenco for his didactic work and as a transcriber, where his work as transcriber of the work of Paco de Lucía, the famous series “Treaty of Accompaniment to Cante” stands out. , among many other works of the highest educational quality.
